3.51 AVERAGE

Fun read but a step down from the previous stories. Seemed a little contrived or forced.

It wasn't awesome. I think the conspiracy storyline would have been good by itself, but it feels as though the canon Millenium characters Lisbeth, Mikael, and even Erika, have been watered down. I was really impressed with the first three books, because it seemed Larsson truly did "get it" and that he loved women. Lagercrantz's story seems well-intentioned. It's not bad, it's just not exactly Millenium, either. In the original books, Larsson casually introduced or touched on topics still considered a little radical or just not discussed enough and you had to think about them. It made for lively book discussions for sure. But in these books, I can't help wondering if Lagercrantz is just being too careful with well-loved characters to flesh them out as they deserve, or if he didn't want to deal with different story lines, or if he wanted to bring the storylines around to a different view point. No spoilers, but I was very disappointed with Erika's story going in the direction it has.

This book picks up where the others left off with the central characters being Lisbeth Salander and Michael Blomkvist.

A disjointed novel that has Michael and others researching the mysterious death of a former Sherpa that has thin ties back to the criminal group Lisabeth’s deceased father had been associated. Meanwhile, Lisabeth hunts for her evil twin sister, Camilla, who along with a former associate of her father and an outlaw biker gang hunt for her.

You are not missing anything by not reading this book.

Every book in this series seems to further dilute what used to be good into a weak boring story. Nothing objectionable, but it's just the same old and less interesting.

5* page turner

Hopefully this ends this travesty called continuation of a book series.
Suprisingly enough it is not as bad as the former one but it is barely worth the paper it's printed on.

3.5 rounded up. Enjoyable but a bit of a confusing storyline that was not super engaging.

always nice to be back with lisbeth and mikael. i am tired of salander's family drama but maybe (?)
Spoiler it's over now?
i found the case interesting--i always like it more when they are working on a story together, not involved in insane shootouts. usual complaints about lisbeth being TOO good (ok...she can do gene sequencing now? come on...) and stakes feeling strange. i think lagercrantz has done a decent job; it'll be interesting to see how the next one picks up (new author).

3.5 would be more accurate - I’d say it’s Lagercrantz’s best in this series.

Disclaimer - I DNF. I love this series and think David Lagercrantz has done a decent job taking over. This book is so dry, though. All his Salander books are a bit dryer than Larsson’s but I just couldn’t do it anymore. The main characters have become shadows of themselves and, in the 80 odd pages I read, spent more time moping around than anything. Might try it again at some point.
