Okay I read this whole book and only realised afterwards that there was a prologue??? If I had read the prologue in the first place I would’ve stopped reading right there. This book was beyond frustrating.
2 ⭐️ only because I didn’t DNF.
Read to me by Alexa
I didn’t really like anything about this story. There is grooming m, which I am not a fan of. The MMC seems to be dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. The FMC has no personality. There isn’t a plot, there isn’t spice. The story feels rushed and poorly written. I just didn’t like anything about it.

For my real unfiltered review... https://prettymessreading.wordpress.com/2017/03/31/possession-by-jaimie-roberts/
I enjoyed this book for what it was, by that I mean it was simple.
But because I enjoyed it and her books are free on Kindle Unlimited, I will was utilize her books as fillers – you know those book you read in between really good, soul aching books.
The story line was cute but I NEVER felt a connection with the main characters, I NEVER felt invested in their lives. It was like hearing gossip at the beauty or barber shop – you hear it but you don’t really care about the outcome.
Even as I’m writing this review I can’t think of much to share with you regarding the story line because it was so basic. Let me break it down for you (and me).

Boy meets girl.
Girl meets boy.
Girl too young for boy so he waits until she is older.
Boy becomes obsessed with girl for some non-existed reason.
Boy makes sure girl never dates or has sex with anyone until he becomes of age.
Boy marries girl.
Girl runs away.
Boy finds girl.
Girl is pregnant.
Boy gives girl space to “find herself”.
Girl realizes she loves boy.
Boy and girl get back together.
Boy and girl have baby and live happily ever after.
That about sums it up folks. It’s basically what the synopsis says in caveman terms.
That’s all I got for that one, I’m not going to spend hours reviewing this one and creating graphics for it because, like I said, it’s a filler.

Dark dark romance with consent issues, total antihero, they meet while she’s a child, lots of triggers.
Actually kind of liked this. Don’t know why a lot of people didn’t.
Drake is psychotic, but from his perspective (last chapter) he sounded a bit funny.
I’m starting to question why I can’t read a nice, pure book to save my life.

Go find your sugar and make yourself some lemonade.
This book was FILLED with triggers. The hero/anti-hero and OM do terrible things to the heroine, and feel very little to no remorse. If you like captive romance, iffy consent, and more possession/infatuation rather than romance, then you will probably enjoy this read.
Side note - hero meets heroine when she is underage. I know that’s a big no for some, so I’m including that in my goodreads review!

This isn't a dark romance, it's just dark and twisted. Drake is a complete psycho and Evelyn is a victim throughout the entire narrative. There's no hero redemption, Drake isn't a hero. He's just one of the worst characters I've ever read. I skimmed through a lot of this looking for, if not a happy ending, then something at least in the vicinity. Nope, Drake is still evil in the end and Evelyn is basically brainwashed.
An extremely dark book with a ton of triggers. Drake started out as Evelyn's savior from her terrible parents until Evelyn started pushing back. Then he went batshit and started doing awful things to her. I didn't understand why until he revealed it was part of his plan to keep her safe. Still messed up and unforgiveable though. There were times when Evelyn annoyed me with her childishness but she behaved within character since she was a child rebelling against Drake's control. It was difficult to rate but the dark, brilliant epilogue bumped it to four. Seriously didn't see it coming but I loved that Drake learned to hide his crazy better. Glad that the author's attempts to redeem his was just a ruse. These kind of monsters never truly change.
I wanted something fast and fucked up. This was and it wasn't, but I still liked it.
