Cute storyline especially for fans of public radio. As others have mentioned, the end kinda fizzled out but overall still a cute rom read.

2.5 stars really. Perfectly average. It was enjoyable enough to keep me reading though I did consider moving to something more exciting. I don’t really have anything bad to say about it either though.

7/22/22 - I had just finished reading a really intense book before jumping into The Ex Talk, boy am I glad this was the follow-up because this was a perfect palette cleanser for me! First off, I'm a huge fan of NPR and talk radio so it was so fun seeing all the Easter eggs and name dropping of shows and hosts, hahaha. I could really feel Rachel's love for talk radio when she really gets into what it's like behind the scenes.
I always enjoy a good enemies to lovers book with lots of headbutting, so I was honestly so pleasantly surprised by how little there was of that and how much this really just leaned more into forced proximity and the twist on fake dating w/ them pretending to be exes. I also love lighthearted reverse age gap so that was just a cherry on top. (The gap is about 5ish years btw).
Right from page one, I was ALL in for following Shay's POV because whewie, she describes Dominic with so much, ahem, respectful appreciation.

This started off really cute, but got annoying the further along we went. The big fight around the 85% mark is so dumb and if I wasn't so close to finishing, I would have quit.
Also, what grown adults talk obsessively about Buffy in 2021???
