Getting darker and intense as aver. Nina, the mother, is sinking into alcoholism and overall worthlessness, drinking in front of her children all days long, like she was the only one been through hell. Her kids been through much worse, not to mention having an evil supernatural being to deal with! I don't care what people say. Fact is parents supposed to be the protectors, the responsbile parties. How the hell could someone ever decide to have kids without absolute commitment? If you can't be sure to be responsible and pull your shit together through no matter what, for your children, DON'T. HAVE. KIDS.

I love the Netflix show don't get me wrong

but it really failed to show how much trauma these kids had to go through and exactly how unhelpful their mom was in that, she's not great in the show but she is downright HORRIBLE in the comics. She is grieving too, but the children are left to completely fend for themselves physically and emotionally after their dad is murdered and they move to a new town! The netflix show kind of brings up the mood in every scene. Everything is "not as bad" "not as deep" and "not as graphic " it's very watered down and I think if they hadn't done that the show would've received much better ratings. That said I have so much love for Locke and Key and Joe Hill so it's always nice to go back and read through these.

Sweet Jesus, how many freaking keys are there?!

Seriously, I'm obsessed with this series with such little time to read it, it's killing me how long it's taking me.

Kinsey without her fear is fascinating. It didn't go the direction I was concerned about, it's just made her more of a badass. I can't wait to see how this plays out, though I have ideas. What a weapon, for either side.

The art here is similarly bad ass. The ghost battle, the war with the shadows. I'm obsessed.

Also, am I reaching when I say that the scar under Jordan's eye is an homage to Death from Sandman? Because it just feels right.

I enjoyed this one for other reasons, I loved the horror aspect with the shadow figures. They were beautifully illustrated and had great spooky vibes.
