Quite an odd book… a bit disjointed but I’m curious to read more in the series.

I was surprised to see the reviews so divided, but maybe this series just knows how to check all the right boxes for me.
For the ragtag mix of academics and techies at St. Mary's, history comes alive... quite literally. Their clandestine time-traveling operation flirts with danger (often careening right into it) doing the work of confirming or debunking details about historical events. It's a lofty mission... until a complication emerges that looks like a sinister plot is afoot, and the threat may be coming from inside the house.
Awhile back I read the Jane Austen Project. This one takes the danger, action, and world-building of the time travel conponent much further, and has (in my mind) a more satisfying romantic plotline with some serious stakes.
The history that's there could be utter nonsense. 8m not enough of a historian, or dinosaur enthusiast to know. For that matter the sci-part of the sci-fi here could be equally as claptrap, but in my mind, if you're nitpicking those things too much the storytelling isn't doing a good enough job. I was having way too good of a time to care.
The only time it went wrong was a melodramatic scene between two of the principals towards the end that felt manufactured and uncharacteristically unworthy of one of the characters, but given the outcome I can even forgive that.
I discovered this series thanks to a booklist for read-alikes for Everything Everywhere All at Once and this turned out to be very fitting. If you are a fan of time travel or people popping in and out of multiverses, timelines, or literature (The Secret Library, Thursday Next books by Jasper Fforde, The Starless Sea etc.) I think you'll be entertained. I'm just mad that now I know there are umpteen books in this series, my to-read list got that much longer.

I must say, I really liked this book and in a few minutes I‘ll beginn the Next in the Series.
It was an easy read and a story that took you in. I have to know how the story continues

Delightful read. At a turn ridiculously funny, dreadfully sad, tense, troubling, outrageous, sexy, ridiculous, and, lest you missed it, hilarious!
