Not as good as To Say Nothing of the Dog but in the same vein, and I enjoyed it very much.

My two complaints - the author really shortchanged Max's early days at St. Mary's, and there were just too many characters to keep track of, especially since so many are introduced just so they can die. At least there was a list of all the characters.

nice and amusing

Meh.

I very much enjoyed this book. It's the first in a series and I get the feeling it will get better as the series progresses. The premise of a group of historians flitting to various historical events is not new but it is done here with a sense of humour and a great, very likeable, central character. Over the following months I shall be catching up on the series.

Everything I hate in a book, a non ending - just about everything remains open, a series that looks like it might go on aimlessly for ever, time travel but five stars as it’s brilliant.

This was fun! Very entertaining and progressed quickly while telling an excellent story.
