Thoroughly enjoyed this for the most part. The writing style reminded me of Jasper Fforde quite a lot, so I was pleased to see a reference to dodos some way in. I'm not convinced the protagonists are entirely the good guys really, though they're definitely not The Bad Guys. It was lacking in a proper finale, and the heroic merits of the big job they pull off seemed ... questionable. Felt like the beginning of a saga when I got to the end of the book rather than working entirely as an individual piece - would have liked some of the threads to have been tied in a neater bow, but I fully intend on reading on anyway. Because it was a fun and easy read all the same.

This book has a lot of death, sexual assault, and more gore than I expected.
I was half way through and still wondering if I liked it. It's not bad and the characters grew on me, don't regret picking it up in a sale but not sure if I'll seek out the next

A really enjoyable read. I'm goung straight forward to the next in the series!
Rollicking fun read, conceptually interesting, execution a bit spotty, but a nice break from some of the heavy stuff I’ve been reading, without being so void of cool plot twists that I got bored.
I loved this - it's not to be taken too seriously, but it makes perfect light reading.

3.5 I want to love this book. I love the premise and some of the characters. There is a lot of potential. However I prefer novels with a beginning, middle, and end. This had a beginning, middle, beginning, middle, and more middle, something that could have been an end, followed by a slight beginning and you guessed it, a middle. It felt like several short stories smooshed together and a slight (very slight. Blink and you'll miss it) twist to try to wrap things up. There are many good ideas but not enough follow through or depth. Still at the end of the day it was entertaining. I'll probably read the next one hoping that the author's style and the characters grow and develop.
