I wasn't sure what happened between these two in the past but you could just feel the tension radiating through the book as soon as they saw each other again. It was crackling and the banter was just spot on.
Collins is home from LA, after a spectacularly bad breakup and break down. Nate is living in her parents development, and wouldn't you know it, is the president of the HOA. He sees that Collins is back from her glamorous LA writing gig and can't wait to jab her about leaving in the first place. It's clear that he wants her gone, but the reason is something we don't know until much later and when we do learn about it, it broke my heart.
Nate is used to being left and he may or may not have a complex about that, but one thing is clear, he has some deep rooted feelings for Collins Even though the book is from her POV, we can still see the longing and yearning for what they once had evident in his actions.
When the two of them finally got together, it was explosive. I had been waiting on the edge of my seat for the point when they would finally give in. Collins and Nate both let their guard down and I was here for it, all of it, but the question is, will she leave again to pursue her dream or are her dreams right here in Ohio?
Being from Ohio I loved the Buckeyes references and the state that shall never be named. 4.5 Stars
Thank you to Berkley, Alexa Martin and Netgalley for an early copy.

Collins left smalltown Ohio to pursue her dreams of writing for television in Los Angeles. It wasn't until a tragically viral video left her tucking tail and heading back to her smalltown to regroup. Upon her return, she finds out that her former best friend, Nate, now mortal enemy, lives in their neighborhood and is less than thrilled to see her. Nate is using his role with the HOA to blackmail Collins into leaving the neighborhood and his position in the community.

This story is laugh out loud funny and the antics of Collins and Nate. I highly recommend for a laugh!

4.5 rounded to 5 out of 5 stars. This was my first book from Alexa Martin and I have no idea why I waited so long!

I received a free ARC from Berkley via NetGalley; and I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased review.

This was way better than expected. I loved the FMC - I can see why folks would say she was immature but I loved her form of pettiness. It was funny and easy to read. My only complaint is that EVERY person in this book (except the FMC and her dad who barely spoke) were white and that was a bit of a bummer.  I get that’s the town she was raised in but like really? She couldn’t know any folks of color or the town couldn’t evolve at all?

Also I am not here for normalizing dad bods lol.

Who wouldn't think that moving back into your childhood home wasn't rock bottom (why yes i am absolutely picturing rock bottom in SpongeBob). Collins felt very relatable, having your dreams crushed by someone you thought you were supposed to love made me so angry for her. Then Nathaniel enters and makes it even worse. Of all the things he had to do he was being rude to try and run her off.

Their pranks, outbursts, and ploys to get the HOA presidency was comical to me. It reminded me of so many of the tv shows in the early 2000s where so many of the characters would run for school president against their friend or former friend and wanted to crush them any way they could. More than that I loved that the old incidents between them were discussed and hashed out because unless you know about something how are you supposed to know that something is even wrong.

The turn to Enemies to more was actually worth it here. And the few side characters were hilarious and had me cracking up every time Collins met up with them.
