out of the three of alisha rai's books i've read so far, this has been my favorite. the things i've liked about the others (funny dialogue, good heroine voice, heroes who aren't dicks, or at least heroes who aren't dicks in that particular romance novel way that i despise, conflict that comes from the characters' personalities rather than a big misunderstanding or tacked on villain/external force) are there but also this one was a little more in my comfort zone (i.e. there's no sex with twins or orgies... sorry... i just can't entirely get behind it) so overall i just enjoyed the experience of reading it a lot more because i wasn't constantly going o___O at some of the sex scenes.

rana is a great character, micah is a great character, i loved their chemistry and relationship as it developed and i feel like their happy ending was both deserved and earned and they both had to work and grow and change. the book was funny as well as angsty (the best combo!), rana's inner narration was hilarious at times, i really appreciated the scene where rana's sisters comfort her after a devastating event (and their overall relationship) and in general, it was just a nice book to read and i felt happy after finishing it--all you can really ask of a romance tbh.

on a side note i am still a little worried that rahul is going to be the hero of leena's book because i feel like even though i barely know him i don't like him, and if he IS the hero, he's going to have to do a hell of a lot of work to redeem himself. (i always worry about this every time an asshole character shows up in one of these family saga books... you never know who's sequel bait and who's actually just an asshole.)

Loved this!!! Rana and Michah were such a great match. While I enjoyed Glutton for Pleasure, this second book in the series is on another level for me. Emotional, sexy and engaging throughout.

Alisha Rai is a fantastic writer. She does a great job getting you to care about the feelings of the characters while keeping it steamy.

This a great story about self acceptance, love and healing. Micah and Rana are softies.

Rana: I think a lot people have done what Rana does which is try to fit the mold of what other people want. So much so they bury themself in some capacity to be acceptable and loved. Rai hits the nail on how self punishing and hateful this can be. You can feel how this shame is hurting Rana.

Micah: His kindness and empathy are a part of his hurt. How do you help someone when it's coming from care and concern? I think that's a harder task.

This series is a hit for me. I am putting this in the ether: I wish there was a book for Leena. I and other readers would read it no matter when it comes out.

Heart wrenching, sexy romance.

Rana is trying to put her impulsive, "selfish" partying life behind her because she wants to find love - but listening to her mom's "sensible" advice means squashing her personality and dating lots of boring, yet suitable men that should be Mr. Perfect.

Rana's neighbor Micah is a tortured (and sexy) artist with a traumatic past, and is coming to terms with life not going as he planned.

There's a little bit of neighborly voyeurism, lots of no-holds-barred sexytimes, and a sex pact where they definitely will NOT fall in love with each other.

What I’ve come to expect and appreciate from Alisha Rai’s writing is there will be eye-opening (at least for me!) love scenes and her characters are not one note. Meaning they’re just as interesting with their clothes on and when they’re describing how they feel taking them off. I did not read the first book in this series but Serving Pleasure can be read as a stand-alone albeit there is some reference to the first book but not so much the reader gets lost.

Micah and Rana are next door neighbors who start a benefits-only relationship and they’ve sworn to not fall in love with each other. Ha!

Rana’s mother is pressuring her to find Mr. Right and Micah is recovering from an attack that left him for dead. He’s more than a tortured artist and she’s more than her “bad girl” lifestyle. It’s not long before someone catches feelings and one more time turns into forever.

After my lukewarm review of [b:Glutton for Pleasure|22929829|Glutton for Pleasure (Pleasure Series Book 1)|Alisha Rai|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1408323279s/22929829.jpg|6813250] and needing to find books that finished up a series for a challenge, I broke down and purchased this book. I really wish I hadn't!

Micah was too focused on his tragedy and he had not fully mentally healed from it. I felt he had no business starting an intimate artist's relationship between model/artist, never mind starting a romantic one! While he never actually became abusive to Rana, he also wasn't in a good position to be the emotional rock she needed.

Rana followed Devi's footsteps a bit, in so much as she couldn't stand up to her mother. Eventually, she does, but it comes at a time where emotional blow after blow begins hitting Rana. I felt that the mother was definitely emotionally abusing the three sisters, but most especially Rana! It also didn't help that Rana's self-esteem was pretty much non-existent during all of this.

All things considered, I doubt I will read the final book in the series, if and when it comes out, nor do I think I will continue reading the author's work.

I’ll admit I wasn’t exactly looking forward to this book since Glutton For Pleasure, the first in the series was so meh, but I’m a completist and couldn’t not read this so I did and I’m glad. There’s a definite improvement in Rai’s craft since there are 6 years between this and the first.
The characters are better developed but as a believer in birth order affecting personality, as the responsible one Leena should be the eldest, Devi the middle child since she’s described as the peacemaker, and Rana the baby since she’s impulsive and wild. I do love the girls’ night the sisters enjoyed and their clearing of the air.
Micah’s arc feels more fleshed out, although he is literally the tortured artist having survived an attempted murder by his ex-model’s jealous boyfriend. The fact that his epiphany came from talking to her seemed a little pat to me since he’d been avoiding her forever.

Another recommendation from Fated Mates that I'm glad I read.
