Entertaining enough...but not one of his best.
lighthearted fast-paced

Typical Grisham. Easy enjoyable read.

In the mood for some light entertainment? Too much deep insightful reading lately? Need something funny that goes down easily? I don't remember Grisham being so funny, but then again, I don't read much Grisham. When I travel I pick up used books at the local library, and this one was well worth $1 (hardback too!). This is great storytelling abut two sad-sack lawyers, and one Harvard Law School grad who accidentally joins forces with them. It's only suspenseful in the sense of what madcap antic will happen next. I couldn't put it down.

I loved this one. I can't rate it 5 stars because I like several John Grisham books more than this one, but this one is great in it's own way.

Not his best but kept me interested till the end.

I surely do enjoy a good Grisham. This one started off a bit comical. David Zinc, an overworked young corporate lawyer, snaps, quits his high paying job, gets drunk, something he would never do, and ends up in the law office of Finley & Figg. Oscar Finley and Wally Figg are "ambulance chasers". Thru a series of misadventures, David finds himself in Federal court, where he has no experience, going up against his former employer. Lots of interesting serious things to consider as well.

this is kind of a off shelf book,as you continue you think you can predict the outcome but as you complete the prediction is totally offset yet you still it was somewhat of a known outcome

Wasn't particularly impressed with this. Slogged through it because I paid hard-cover price. Grisham for me is 'airplane-reading', so I don't expect it to be stellar. Even for a fluff novel, this was really poorly paced, without likable characters, and very little actual legal drama. The very least I expect for airplane reading is that it does not feel like a chore to read.

It's been a long time since I read John Grisham.
I really enjoyed this book.

It isn't as gripping and thrilling as The Firm or The Pelican Brief. It's more like The Rainmaker. A good story, some interesting characters, a couple of court cases you can root for (or against!) and lots of interesting law talk.

It's fall now so let's call this one a good 'read by the fire' book (instead of a beach read!)
