I really enjoyed it! My 1st Agatha was a success. I did figure out who it was but I thought it was a completely different t reason!

the ending was shocking although i was proud of myself as i saw it coming. I didn’t like that there were so many small details to pay attention to I sometimes got lost in the story, and christie often relies on stereotypes to create expectations for the reader which i dislike and find too predictable. Other than that great read

Agatha Christie’s The murder of Mr. Ackroyd is another example of her ingenious writing in keep the reader guessing until the end of the book. The reader’s suspect list will be quite long, but the reason Agatha is one of the top writers of the genre is, because of her way of hiding the facts in plain sight. Furthermore, I enjoyed learning new British English words and the sarcastic humor of the main protagonist, Hercule Poirot. However, there is a bit of blasphemy in the book, which is quite uncalled for and unnecessary. Overall, an excellent light-read for anyone who enjoys a good murder mystery with an unexpected twist at the end…happy reading and remember to use your little grey cells!

Unsure if it was the ‘old timey’ expressions that made me cringe (very antiquated and backwards), but this wasn’t the stunner I thought it would be. Every time I’ve said I want to read more Christie, this has been the one to pop up. I LOVE other stories by her, and this one had the essence of a good Poirot, but I wasn’t engaged with any characters or really that bothered about solving the mystery. A shame.
