Read this one ages ago and didn’t make it as read. It was okay but didn’t enjoy it as much as the first time around.

Ugh. This book is basically about a woman who learns to be a sexual submissive. And of course she willingly gives up her love of music for her man/dominant.

This is one of those book that are like a train-wreck but you just can't look away. I thought [b:Passion|80760|Passion (Passion Quartet, #1)|Lisa Valdez|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1309210494s/80760.jpg|77976] was weird, but [b:Patience|80761|Patience (Passion Quartet, #2)|Lisa Valdez|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1309282774s/80761.jpg|77977] reaches another level entirely with brain-washing bdsm training. o.O Although, I am guessing that those who love bdsm historical erotica will enjoy this one.

Persephone fantasy. Cello. Broken engagements. Cutting the clothes off of her and burning them. Redhead. Bossy dude into the struggle. Bound blowjob. Lots of precum. Bible verses. Teasing and orgasm denial. Training in lifestyle. Spanked in the rain. Punishment. “Virgin blood”, hurk. Love and kink. If you like D/s relationships, this is a hot book.

Illegitimacy, societal shunning. Death in mines.

Worse than its predecessor [bc:Passion|80760|Passion (Passion Quartet, #1)|Lisa Valdez|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1309210494s/80760.jpg|77976].
Contain some Bondage scene too. Is it why the title is Patience?
Sometimes I don't know for what purpose Lisa Valdez write this series. I read the next book, Primrose. Story about Prim, Patience and Passion's sister.
Seems like the plot will be the same. Sex and sex, and unbelievable sex (like how big the man's peen was, waaaaa)

yani
Spoiler"look at my cock, it's dripping precum, fucking lick it" değil de "it weeps, lick it." diyo anlatabiliyor muyum, ve öyle bi çizgideki cümle bi tık üstü arabesk ama böyle olunca olmuyo işte görün yazarlar

xoxoxo

Ga sebagus buku pertama, yg Passion.

Sekarang, dia nyadar kalau dia beneran suka sama Patience. Rasa sukanya bersambut. Ketika Matt minta satu malam bersama Patience, Patience pun mengiyakan. Ternyata, Patience dilatih menjadi submissive, dan Patience iya2 aja.

Jadinya gitu deh... ga cukup satu malam. Mereka cari2 kesempatan. Tapi mereka cuma ngelakuin oral, fellatio, sampai pakai spanking segala. Matt benar2 menunjukkan kalau dia dominan, meski dia berusaha nahan diri juga. Ternyata Matt memang blm pernah ML sama wanita lain alias masih perjaka.

*halah*

I toyed with not even acknowledging that I read this book so annoyed by it that I was. But I am finishing a 144 books for the year challenge, so I am including it.

I read Valdez's previous book [b:Passion|80760|Passion |Lisa Valdez|http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/519Jm8iIwNL._SL75_.jpg|77976]. And while I thought the sex scenes were badly (and often hilariously) written, I thought the story was great. I thought Passion and Mark's love for each other and their longing to be together was a nice counterweight to the execrable sex scenes. So it made that book, if not a hit out the ball park, at least a somewhat affecting romance novel.

Patience doesn't even have that going for it. The 'romance' between Matthew and Patience is paper thin. There is no tension in their relationship. There is no real obstacle or anything else that gives their romance any weight or heft. There is a largely convoluted plot about Matthew's ex-fiancee's father trying to ruin him. But this has no bearing on him pursuing a relationship with Passion. Take away the sex scenes (again, horribly written) and what do you have left? Nothing of any substance really.

Which brings me to the sex scenes. There are a lot of them and they are light BDSM. If I had a preference of what types of sex scenes to read BDSM scenes would be at the rock bottom. That said, I read some BDSM erotica where the scenes of submission weren't quite so.... degrading. It just strikes the wrong tone with me that in one memorable 'love' scene Matt should bring Patience to the point of climax over and over again but not let her get any relief. Until finally, after much torture, he condescendingly allows her to hump his boot (and she jumps at the choice which much joy while her clitoris ruptures). Seriously.

And even worse it is all couched in terms of religion. Each chapter is prefaced with a Song of Solomon quote. Matt tells Patience she is being remade into Eve, a woman who was created solely for the pleasure of her master, Adam (any guesses on who Adam is in this scenario? Anyone? Bueller?). And Valdez isn't picky about which religion she's using, sometimes Patience is Eve, sometimes she Persephone. And sometimes she's both even in the same sentence.

And it is made clear that his dick is some sort of holy object (or rather 'Organ of Dominon') that she is lucky to get communion from. Yes, fellating him is a form of taking communion, it is right there on the page. I have no words...

And the prose was so purple I kept expecting Prince to jump out and start serenading me as I was reading.

I'd give this negative stars if I could.

Patience is the follow up to [b:Passion|80760|Passion |Lisa Valdez|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1276103164s/80760.jpg|77976], which was wonderful. This one fell a little flat for me. It was just missing that spark that made Passion so good. Hopefully the third, Primrose?, will live up to the potential that Valdez showed with Passion.
