I randomly bough this because I wanted free shipping, But I absolutely loved it! I thought it was really cute! And I got really attached to Jules, and was genuinely happy for him through out the book.

A coming of age YA debut novel about high school, coming out, friendship, first love, and a homophobic father. Reading about the friendship among Jules and his friends brought back so many fond memories of my high school experience, and the heartache we all went through when we were all going our separate ways after graduation.

Oh the ending. I'm actually so emotional. I really really enjoyed this one; it just felt so welcoming and accepting of sexualities and the experience of coming out. I love how Julian forgave his father in the end, and yet still refused to let his toxicity back into his life, I feel like that really gave some peace of mind. I also hella liked how even though Julian was struggling so much with his college applications, and how it didn't all turn out as planned, it still ended happily; yet still realistically. (I'm currently in the same position with applications so it was just especially comforting for me.) Overall, the writing was so good for a newbie author, I got extremely attached to the characters and everything was honestly just done so well!

What an amazing, sweet, heartwarming and captivating book !
It's a contemporary romance, realistic and with many references to the current era without missing the dream-y feelgood spirit of the genre !
I LOVED everything about Mat, his supportiveness, his cheekiness, his flirting, his joking, the fact he always being there for Julian !
I also loved how the author did not try to give a redemption arc to the dad. The dad was a piece of shit, and everyone openly admitted it, Julian knew it from the start and wrote it in the end. "It's your choice to be an intolerable asshole."
The book is the right combination of sweet romcom and dealing with heavier issues like abuse (verbal and physical) and harassing. It doesn't shy away from anything !
My only small issue: when Julian firstly came out, his friends and Mat's replies were a bit textbook, as if it's a therapist/councilor speaking. I get the author wanted to portray supportive friends, but it felt a bit too mature/adult/encyclopedic.
This is the author's debut book, so I can have hopes he will write a sequel rom-com about Julian and Mat in LA ! Right??

This is the such a cute book! I loved it so much! The relationship is adorable, and makes me so happy while reading I couldn’t stop smiling. I did tear up a little in a few parts, but I think it makes the book that better. I loved the characters, I loved watching them grow and figure out who they are. If your looking for a cute MlM story this is it.
