Cute, like the others. I really should have skimmed through the second book before starting this one because I'd forgotten all the characters. This one ends on a bit of a cliff-hanger, so i assume there's more to come.

I really really wish these books existed (and I had discovered them) when I was younger. I can't imagine how incredibly happy my ten year old me would have been with books like this. Ten year old me was bored at school. I was way ahead of everyone else and I was constantly held back. If I could have read about gifted girls from all over the world going to a special school in America to learn how to become the best spies in the world, I would have prayed that the school existed.

What I really liked is that this third book was once again quite different from the previous two books. For a moment I was afraid Carter would eventually play the same trick again, but I was happily proved wrong. In the previous two books we saw the girls using their skills in a more playful manner. They were growing and learning, but when they messed up it wasn't too bad. In this book things are getting way more serious. Things are getting more real.

That also means that the love drama from the previous two books has been moved to a seat at the very very back. There is a short moment where Cammie runs into Josh and there are some instances with Zach, but Cammie, and the others, don't have much time for romance. They have better things to do. Like making sure that their best friend is still at school and alive at the end of her father's presidential campaign.

Despite the fact that it's way more serious now, the book is still very light and easy to read. On top of that Carter doesn't forget that one of the strong elements of this series is the coolness of the school. So, we still witness some epic classes and lessons and we are also confronted with possible futures for our girls! And like in the previous books, those classes and lessons learned come in quite handy when dealing with real criminals.

I'm really excited to dive into the next book! I have a feeling this will only get better and better!

Trigger warnings: violence, attempted kidnapping, espionage, lying, grief, injuries, strained parent-child relationship

March 2024: I am absolutely flying through these books now that I've committed to finishing my re-read. This book is where I start kind of losing my recollection of when I read it as a young kid. I remember most of what happens, but not everything and it only gets worse from here. This is also definitely where this series takes on a darker turn. Cammie realizes she has to start using her training in real life and what that means when it comes to her and her friends safety. There's also a lot more of the secrets and lying part of espionage in this book, something that makes it really difficult for us readers considering we only have the main character's perspective to guide us. This time around this is one of the thing that most frustrates me; the idea that Cammie can't know the truth about what's truly happening around her for her safety, but it ends up creating more problems than solutions. Considering the type of personality she is, it seems to me that the adults would relax some of the rules after awhile, but no haha. Maybe it's my inner tween coming out, but some teenagers are trustworthy and should be treated as such! I am not prepared for the second half of this series, pray for me ya'll.

A nice ending, but I'd actually like to read another book about the Gallagher girls.

Another good book by Ally Carter! lol. Love the excitement as Cammie and the gang tries to figure out who is trying to kidnap Macey. I love the Cammie and Zach scenes, especially when they were on the train together. SO INTENSE!!! The ending was definitely a twist as the questions of "Who" and "Why" are answered.

I want to know more about Zack's background and if Cammie's father's enemies have to do with the new found danger that is discovered.

3 and a half stars.
I think Ally Carter writes perfect, clean simple adventure stories for early to late teen girls about girls their own age. Wish I could speak 30 (or whatever number!) languages and drop a man twice my size with one kick! But I'm very glad I no longer worry about cute boys, though I can still relate to their not understanding them!!

As most know I didn't really liked the first two books, they were predictable and boring and mostly the same formula. Luckily this book picks up and is awesome. I am going to continue reading this series, hopefully the rest (4/5/6) will be awesome as well.

This book changes the formula. Instead of her drooling over a new guy in a new book, this time we keep to Zach. Of course we have a new guy in the book (as predicted), but he is no love interest to Cammie (cheers erupt and confetti is thrown).
Cammie was actually pretty darn awesome in this one, clearly showcasing her spy abilities, showing that she was a wonderful friend and various other magnificent things. Of course, her and boys are still a bit of a no-no as she tends to forget everything she learned during a meeting with one. This one also shows that she does that. Under bleachers with Zach, forgets everything around her and gets caught. The same for many other situations.

This book was all action and excitement with starting at the earliest parts with a kidnap attempt and an epic battle. And luckily the book kept up that action part and I never once was bored.

We also learn more about Macey, about her parents, how she feels about her parents and the masks and characters she puts up when needed. For instance, she is way different around Cammie and her friends than she is around her parents. I loved that she got a big role in this book. She is still no main character, but she is a huge part of the story. She even has a cute romance part going on.

We also have a new family member, Aunt Abby. I was delighted to see some more of Cammie's family, I keep wondering about them. Are they also spies? Or is it just the parents?

The ending was a real nice twist, though I kind of expected it. There were enough hints thrown around, but I was still a bit surprised to find out it was really true.

All in all, this is one book I would recommend. Though sadly, you need to read the first 2 boring books because otherwise you won't get what this one is about. :)
