This one picked up the pace from some more recent installments. Excited to see how this one finally unfolded. Especially loved the turtles!!

The tenth instalment in the Wayward Children series. I do like coming back to the series every so often and then I either really enjoy the time I spend there or I‘m close to indifferent towards it. This time I quite enjoyed my time in Seanan McGuire‘s world again. Nadya‘s story took me in and captivated me. I especially liked the imaginative world McGuire came up with this time and getting to know the creatures and people from that world made it feel like a warm hug. This time I was really sad when it ended but since we already knew Nadya from earlier books, we knew she was going to end up at the school. I just really wanted her to stay in the world behind her door!!

It was nice to come back to Nadya’s character after many books in between. She was a very interesting character when we first met her. I liked getting her background story and learning about her door. I felt bad for her new American life and how her adoptive mom treated her disability. It was beautiful to see Nadya’s new life inside her door. This was one of the first books I read in this series where I was sad when she came back to the “real” world. I wanted her to stay. I’m not sure if I’ll continue the series, but I had a great time in this universe.

This was a very classic adventure story with a very sad ending though we already know the basics since she ends up at the school.
