Everyone in this book just were kind of terrible people. All of them. I don't want any neighbors like these people!! But at least they get to stick together and raise their kid? It make me wonder if there are really people out in the world like this...I really hope not! Author Tim Lane did a great job of making these terrible people come to life on the page and show their terribleness. I am now off to add all of his books to my TBR!

Adam is new to the stay-at-home-dad life and, as his relationship with his wife starts to unravel, he becomes obsessed with his neighbor Ali across the street. One night, through his window he sees something that makes him question if Ali might be in danger and starts to seek out answers.

Ooooof, THE NEIGHBORS WE WANT by Tim Lane was not the story we (I) want 🙃

Rereading the synopsis after reading this book made me question who was responsible for hooking me into this weird, dysfunctional book with that blurb!

This one is very much a domestic suspense (hold the suspense) with a lot of odd sexual encounters and relationships that happen and are then never explained.

I didn’t feel any connection to the characters and am, overall, feeling very hung up on the story and the elements that came into play.

This one, unfortunately, didn’t do a whole lot for me, but thanks to NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for giving me a chance to read this one early!

I thought this book looked promising and I think the storyline had great potential but I felt that throughout the audiobook I kept waiting for it to really pick up and it just didn’t. I seemed to be missing a big twist or something to really make this a thriller. I mean there are affairs happening and perverted creepers but it was hard to connect when none of the characters were very likable. I felt throughout most of this the people and situations described just gave me the ick. I did enjoy the narrator though, she did a great job and did make the book more enjoyable.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me an advanced copy of this book.

Multiple POVs; domestic thriller vibes; really struggled to stay engaged with this one; the writing style was difficult and distracting and the plot seemed all over the place; I was really excited after reading the synopsis, but the book fell a little flat in its delivery and was pretty unsatisfying; there was some suspense and tension but it all felt a little too forced

Special thank you to Crooked Lane Books and NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review!

Meh. A very weird book. The first couple of chapters I was starting to get into it and then it just took a weird turn. Every body was sleeping with someone else. There was weird obsessions. There was no character development at all. I just didn’t enjoy it. I don’t recommend it.

White bro fetishes a Black woman as a plot point? Big nope for me, the married couple were insufferable and didn’t deserve to get away with anything.

Thanks to Net Galley for this reading opportunity

I struggled a lot with this book. I really wanted to like it as the synopsis sounded intense.
Really the book was anticlimactic, a lot of back & forth plot and I didn't like or care about any characters.
I felt slightly uncomfortable about the racism & how the writer wrote about this. Hard to explain but it just felt awkward.
Anyway not the book for me.

This was an interesting book and I appreciated the different perspectives. However I didn’t like any of the characters, and I found the book ultimately very anticlimactic. It also goes back and forth to some scenarios/time in that year and I just didn’t feel like I could connect with the story well enough.
