Everything that hadn't really been working for me about this series kind of came to a head here, the first of which being that it didn't actually feel like a trilogy to me. The plot didn't escalate and the stories didn't feel particularly connected to form an overall story arc (though they were obviously part of the same series). As well, most of the characters never really got fully fleshed out, particularly the female characters. In this entry in particular, the relationship between Ruthven and Grisaille never rang true for me and escalated far too quickly.

Best book of the series, a little sad it’s the last. I loved the romance aspect and I’m normally a romance person, but it’s different when their vampires, angels and gay. I also loved more vampire perspective, I know again Greta’s main character I adore Grisaille’s personality he balances out the others so well, Varney’s love of Greta, Fastitocalon’s love for Hell ugh. It was great!

Although the author left open the possibility to have additional book in this series, the story ended in a most satisfactory way if there is not another one. Oh, and this is a version of Hell I would not mind spending eternity in.

The consistent deus ex machinas in this series aren’t quite to my taste, but by the third book in the series, I’ve obviously decided that the rest of the story is worth it. ;P The characters are fun and the individual scenarios and interactions and scenes they have are lovely, even if the overall large picture plot isn’t for me!

Loved the final book. Wish there was just one more with a baby or two or even Greta being turned by Varny. The books seemed to get better as I read each one. I loved the relationships that evolved.
