Another incredible book from Chris Carter, he never fails to absolutely blow me away with his skills. Non stop tension throughout and such a well developed plot and motive behind it all.

when i met chris carter, he said how Genesis would be his darkest book to date, and i can't help but agree with him on that one.
with this book, carter really stepped it up a notch in terms of inducing fear in the reader - despite the fact that (some) of the murders in this book were less bloody and less, i guess, gory in the 'traditional' way, it is absolutely brutal. ive read loads of thrillers and crimes, and this goes into the list of ones that truly made me feel icky. its expertly done.

something thats done/explored really well in this book which isnt done to as much an extent in the others is the theme of trauma and the effect of these killings rather than the killings themselves. this books more dark than the others because of its continued theme of suicide and mental health thoughout, making it more realistic and therefore i guess personal and terrifying. its one where as a result, you cant help but sympathise at least a bit with the killer for what theyve gone through, which, i at least, dont think was done as much in the other books.
and the reveal! this one is absolutely packed with red herrings. i love a serial killer book, but when the killer turns out to be a woman, its bound to be up there in the favourites.

another great book by chris. they just seem to be getting better and better each time. definitely give this a read.
