I think Moreno-Garcia has similar taste to me. This is a thriller/mystery centered on old movies, the weird Golden age hollywood (Mexican hollywood?) culture, the occult, and has characters trying to be smart and do the right thing. All things I love, so of course this was a great read for me.

Just a really solid book! No major complaints, and I really love SMG’s writing style. I didn’t connect with the plot or the characters as much as I wanted. Not spooky enough and not as cult-heavy as I would have expected, definitely more focused on the love and history of film. But SMG is just so talented, I’ll read her grocery list 🙂↕️
I loved all the details & history about film and horror - I had some issues with the pacing & resolution, but overall an enjoyable read!

Loved it! Loved the characters, the POV switching to and fro every chapter (which this author seems to have perfected), loved how the story slowly enticed me just like the mystery started enticing Montserrat (and Tristan to a lesser degree).
Felt like it could happen in the universe of „The Magnus Archive“ in some places and still stayed weirdly grounded.
Really fun and exciting read (or in my case, listen)!

I couldn’t get into it. The characters weren’t likeable, dialogue was forced and the action was slow.
