Well-written and I liked the premise but this was tooooo much of a slow burn (maybe didn’t help that I listened to audiobook) and without enough horror!

I really enjoyed this one. Not as much as Mexican Gothic, that book holds a special place in my heart, but it was still good. I love witchy, culty things like this.

Montserrat is an excellent name and and excellent character. She is about all I enjoyed in the book. Didn’t really get suspenseful for me plot wise. Probably because occult doesn’t compel me very much. Magic spells and witchcraft can be interesting but this didn’t hit it for me. Also Tristán is annoying af, bisexual or not.
