This was an absolute joy to read. An interesting premise with protagonists you can't help cheering on. I can't wait to read the entire series though I don't want it to end.

+You may feel like you've read this type of fantasy story before but this a story written very well.
+Sable. Sable is strong and smart female lead character. She is sassy enough that she's not boring but she is also a humble character.
+Jos. Jos is a very very interesting character. He is the ultimate grey character with a
Spoiler solid redemption arc
.

-I didn't really care for the flute power in this book but the rest of the story was super interesting so it didn't bother me.
-We get third person POVs from random people which can sometimes be a little off putting.
-The plot is a little slow in the first quarter but stick with it as the pace evens out.

Énorme coup de coeur

The story seems original, but I got bored halfway through the book. Maybe I wasn't really in the mood, and I should give it a second chance later.

DNF 40%.

This was so good! I absolutely love the exciting journey of Sable and Jos. An exquisitely built world with tensions- political, romantic, magical. I'm loving the magic system and I cannot wait to learn more. The characters do grow and develop on their journey. Seeing this growth and character development makes me even more excited for what comes next! I love a classic epic fantasy and this is a great first book! Hidden identities, enemies to lovers, one "bed" scene! #isthisakissingbook? Yes indeed! And check out the gorgeous naked cover!

Naze.

This book was SOOO good! I devoured it in two days. The worldbuilding was clear but elaborate. The writing was concise yet had enough details to pull the reader in full dive. And plot was so beautifully structured that everything pulled together at the end, even with all the different point-of-views.

I think the characters could have used a little more depth, but they still had clear character arcs even if a little simple.

Regardless, I loved this book. Definitely recommend!

WOW WOW!!! Hâte de lire le second tome!
