Great atmosphere, a thrilling whodunit. Unfortunately I didn't like the detective. She's lame and irritating, I hope she'll improve in the next book.

This was such a good book, and it's a perfect read for Winter! I can't believe this is the author's debut novel. It was written well, and I really enjoyed the characters and story. I can't wait to read her next book! I highly recommend picking this neat mystery thriller up.

I marked this as having spoilers because while I’m not outright saying who did it, I’m saying enough that reading it you’ll quickly guess who did it.

I really struggled to get into this book. Aside from the inability to connect with the detective, the main reason was because almost every time there was a scene change a new chapter was started. For the first twenty actual chapters I just couldn’t settle into this book. A new chapter would start and suddenly she was talking to someone else in another room. I absolutely could not picture any layout of the hotel. So no mental setting, no connection with the detective and we’re off to a terrible start.

Then we get to the murders and the suspects. I did guess who was the murderer because she was awkward and tried too hard to connect with the detective throughout the book, so that in the end we should feel sympathy for the murderer.

At one point I had hope I was actually wrong about who the murderer was, and this persons reasoning if it had been fleshed out into the actual reason why would have been a really fascinating reason. But they were just the accomplice.

I’ve struggled to get into thrillers before, despite being my favorite genre I often find the first 50-100 pages hard to get into. But this time I should have dnf

The name was misleading. Maybe my fault, I tend to read books by the author and cover/title, versus reading the synopsis. This book did disappoint. Didn’t like the characters. Did t enjoy the plot. The twists were lackluster and awkwardly placed I’m with little repercussion. I finished it to finish it, not because I was drawn to. I’ve enjoyed other books by Pearse, this book hasn’t deterred me from her. Just not my preferred choice of an enthralling read.
