Very “of an era”

this felt so utterly pointless. a book set in the underground discos of new york, chronicling people dancing? idk, that was all I got from the story.

Had high hopes for this one but didn’t feel emotionally connected to it and felt like it dragged through with ongoing description and lists page after page that felt less like it added to the story and more like a way to compensate for a lack of something

poignant points. i appreciate a queer book for queer ppl. at points it kind of dragged and became a bit confusing bc of the writing style but also i might be dumb. feels like the type of book i might pick up again 10 years from now.

a beautiful book about both the excitement and throes of 70s gay culture. would 100% read again.

This book completely opened my mind to whole of world of queer life in New York with the never ending search for beauty and love through discotheques, dancing, sex, drugs, orgies, lovers and gossip, and how “doomed Queens” lived in the 70s and how they changed with age.

some of the most beatifully devious writing ever and like so funny.

honestly its a banger
