A beautiful book that speaks to the important of bees and kindness. Love illustrations that center flowers in muted, dreamy colors.

Includes sources and a brief list of flower meanings. Visually stunning. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a picture book this beautiful. Nice use of a fold out page when Beatrice meets the carnivorous plants in the swamp. The change in page orientation to get to the thicket filled with other bees felt less effective.

The focus is on the flowers but it felt like a missed opportunity to not mention how important bees are and how terrifying it is that they’re disappearing with some kind of authors note.

The ending felt abrupt compared to the buildup of the journey. But again it’s such a beautiful book that didn’t matter so much. Very Disney Alice in Wonderland with the anthropomorphized flowers and visually similar to the Fan Brothers.

This is such a beautiful and very sweet story!. It tells about a lone bumblebee named Beatrice who was adopted by the flowers at the meadow where they let drink from their nectars, let her sleep on their leaves and even taught them their own unique and special languages, 'the languages of the flowers! that consist of uttering some positive and nice words to them which in turn helps them grow and bloom beautifully!.

In a way, i loved the simple and easy to understand approach of teaching the children as well as the adults on pollination and the important symbiotic relationships between the bees and the flowers to each other.

I also loved the message and the moral of the story that is the importance of encouraging others with nice and positive words in other to help others to grow and bloom beautifully, even to those that may look strange and different to you, which also teaches the concept of kindness.

My only quirk is that the story ends too abruptly for i was hoping for the ending to be folded up more gently and tightly.

Overall, i loved the book, the exquisite pencil sketches, the beautiful and gentle message of the story. I enjoyed learning 'floriography'/the language of the flowers and the unique and special meanings that each flowers carry which i believed are culturally distinctive as every countries and cultures assign different meanings to the flowers and that's what makes floriography interesting!.

Simply put, a book that i would recommend to anyone in need of a dose of some gentle and sweet story to boost their day!.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read an e-Arc copy of this sweet story in exchange for an honest feedback.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I thought this was such a beautiful illustrated story about a young bumblebee who was adopted by flowers and grew up learning their language and learning all about them before going to find his own kind to tell them about the flowers. I loved how at the end of the book the author listed all the flowers that were in the book along with their pictures so that children who read the book can learn more about flowers. I highly recommend this for children and even adults who want to look through a beautiful book and learn about flowers and nature.

The Language of Flowers follows Beatrice the bumblebee as she grows up in a meadow full of flowers. The flowers teach her their language and Beatrice spends her days giving the flowers messages. As the meadow grows, Beatrice goes on a journey to find more bumblebees who can help her. All she has to do is to watch out of the swamp.
