MMC is a petty asshole who likes to humiliate FMC in public and private when she expresses vulnerability to him. I was REALLY hoping that this book wouldn’t have HER apologize to HIM about this…but it does.
Even worse, her narration mentions that there is no way he could know that infidelity/sleeping around is very bad in her world, because he doesn’t know she’s not the Princess. But he does know…and so do her parents…she is literally the only one out of the loop.
And her mother sits her down and tells her that yes, her husband cheating sucks, but she needs to fuck him well enough that he doesn’t cheat. And FMC does this.
MMC is also very physically dominating, constantly pins and corners FMC and does not listen when she tells him to let her go. I cannot STAND this shit.
One a more technical note: this book badly needs an editor. The run on sentences are plentiful, and the author has seemingly never met a comma she didn’t like. Not even a semi-colon will do! The phrasing is often clunky and the subject and object of these interminable sentences is sometimes unclear. I genuinely had to puzzle over several of them to figure out the meaning because they were so badly constructed.
Is this throwing stones from a glass house? No. I’m not charging money to read this review.
