This is my first Dekker book and I thought it was really good. It is simple and easy to follow great for middle school age. I'm glad I bought it as a box set so I can continue on this year. It was a quick read with Humor and adventure. I can see the outline of the good and evil from Dekker's beliefs.

I liked this book. 3.5 stars.
The beginning was very exciting and fast paced, while the middle sagged a bit and got kind of tedious with the constant bickering. But I adored the characters, and the ending was incredible and made me eager for more. I will definitely finish this series.
Although I have not yet read the Circle series, I may now. This book was very good.

I was hooked on the book from the first chapter. I am very much a fan of average or underdog heros.

Excellent story. Loved the way the author told the story of God's love for us and how Jesus sacrificed Himself for us through this story. It was a really good read!

Read the whole thing, won't be getting the next one in the series. There wasn't enough character development to make me care about these people. I think my stepson might enjoy it because of the action, but the verbiage is in that High-fantasy-old-fashioned that I don't think he'd appreciate. It felt clumsy and stilted. It tried too hard.

I read this series back in high school, and it’s interesting to reread it 7-10 years later

A little bit choppy writing. Probably for a younger audience, but for the most part, enjoyable.
