Most disturbing, disgusting, graphic novel I have ever read. The plot was disjointed and hard to follow. However what your left with in your memory is a sad, grim story of greed and jealousy.
Read the blurb, scoffed at it; sounded way too melodramatic.

(I just read an at once gruesome and cozy graphic novel about little pixies that seem to sprout from a child's imagine, and their expendable lives and everchanging hearts, with a youthfully innocent protagonist that seems to be making peace with her circumstances)

How magically macabre!
Much has been made of the disturbing nature of the book’s subject matter, but I didn’t think Beautiful Darkness was overly unnerving. It does not shy away from the inevitability of death that comes cruelly and equally to all beings. This dichotomy is hard to face.

Equal parts Lord of the Flies and The Borrowers, this is a quick and easy read but thought-provoking and emotional nonetheless. The water colors by Kerascoët are beautiful as well. Check it out!
