Good book! I especially loved The main character, Sebastian's best friend Delilah. This author also wrote "Pay It Forward"....you may have seen the movie with Kevin Spacey...
A quick read, with some interesting plot twists. I was disappointed with the ending, so that's sort of soured me on the whole book.
I LOVE stories like this. The romeo-juliet concept in a modern set-up. This is the story that makes you believe that everything is possible if you really love someone.
The main characters both have their problems and they have to make hard decisions to overcome those. Fortunately they find true love and are both willing to do anything to make it work. However, the ending is a little more unexpected than you thought it would be.
This is the first book I've read from Catherine Ryan Hyde, but I'm definitely going to read others as well.

‘Chasing Windmills’ is an enchanting and alluring novel. The love at first sight is captivating and exciting. The characters are both melancholy and bright. They both do not know how to really live life. They both have been excluded from the beauty that is called Life. However, after they meet some great character development occurs. The romance is pure and out of the roof.

‘I tried desperately to look and act normal, but that never works. There’s something wrong with the fabric of that system. Normal is when you’re not trying, so anytime you try to act normal, you’re going to fall on your ass.’ - Sebastian, p.55
‘not picking is a type of picking. You’re choosing to take the stuff you get by default when you don’t choose.’ - Maria, p.361
‘‘It’s not exactly something you get over. It’s like those steel spikes they drive into a tree. If the tree doesn’t die, it just sort of grows around it. You sort of make it part of you. You learn how to live around it after a while.’’ - Delilah, p.379
A modern take of West Side Story with a twist.
Moderate: Domestic abuse, Emotional abuse, Physical abuse
I really liked this story. Two strangers, living parallel lives, have a chance meeting on a subway, and develop a relationship based on Maria's favorite movie, West Side Story. A very enjoyable read.
