Read this charming slice of fall for book club. 

I liked: 

  • how Logan appreciates the real things about Jeannie, like her hedgehog pajama pants, that go beyond cliche physical attraction
  • the real-person moments they share, like the cup noodles
  • the scary-noises mystery and its resolution
  • seriously, fall vibes on every page, pumpkins/chunky scarves/hot drinks in ridiculous quantities

I was meh about:
  • Sometimes having trouble keeping track of the multitude of side characters, which was Norman and which was Noah again? Is there going to be a pop quiz
  • Marketing copy not matching the book: Jeannie is not escaping a dull desk job, she is traumatized and exhausted. And 
  • This book is NOT a grumpy x sunshine. Fight me, publishers.  Grumpy x anxious at best.

It was a cute read. Kinda expected plot, but you go on knowing this. I enjoyed enough to want to read Book 2. Are you looking for a Hallmark movie in book form? This is it.
