Despite this book having one of the most unlikeable main characters I've ever come across, it was a rather enjoyable read. Georgina Green comes to realise in her late 20s that she's bisexual, and not only does she embody bisexual chaos, she does so in a way that makes me want to slap her in the face. She has a lovely boyfriend whom she lies to and treats rather appallingly and a fabulous best friend who's supportive until George/Gina lashes out at her. However, despite our MC being a selfish brat, the supporting characters are delightful enough to carry the story, which is a fun, queer romp.
Some have criticised the book for being full of lesbian stereotypes – U-Hauls! Cats! Astrology! Buzz cuts and Doc Martens! – but it's an own-voices story and the stereotypes seem more like an in-joke done with a wink to the queer community. And to be fair, although it's been a long time (too long!) since I've been to a lesbian bar, I do recall seeing a fair amount of Docs and buzzcuts on display...
This novel also serves as a handy compendium of queer musicians – be prepared to make a new playlist on Spotify, or just look up 'Double Booked' and find the one the author made to go with the book.
And, of course, our bratty MC figures herself out in the end, realises she's been awful, and turns her life around. We've all been awful at times, so, you know – relatable.
All in all, a fun read and one I'd definitely recommend.

On the German Version: Dieser Roman bietet mehr als zuerst angenommen.

Not really sure how to feel about this book - it made me stressed and anxious, so kudos for getting a physical reaction, but I do wonder if I should have just dnf'd. I saw it described as a romcom - I definitely would not call it that. Its coming out story, perhaps not in the healthiest way in my opinion - but I suppose if you look at it as not a sunshine and rainbows kind of romance (that I was expecting with the guise of romcom) it entails all the uncertainty and messiness of trying to figure out who you are in your mid-twenties. There is an obsession rather than a romance, subterfuge and sneaking around in another that sat uncomfortably with me, and one that just weirded me out that it even got that far (but then maybe that's the ace in me).
