Just Jack is an adorable small town romance. I love our guys and I love Jacks family. I’m so hoping for more books in this world.

I was honestly very bored and this seemed repetitive and drawn out. I thought maybe it was just the story building but it was advertised as “hurt/comfort” I expected that to come alot earlier on.

This was my first Christina Lee book, and I liked it. I was hooked from the first chapter. Not a lot happens, but it’s all about their relationship—how they meet, hook up, and fall in love. That made it super sweet.

The story is short, cute, and low on angst. If you like small-town vibes or grumpy-sunshine romances, it’s a good pick. Jack and Aaron are easy to like, and their relationship grows naturally without unnecessary drama.

Aqua Vista, the small town, is a big part of the charm. The side characters are fun but don’t take over. The ending is sweet, and while it’s not a story that sticks with you, it’s still a nice and easy read.

I like the older (late 30’s) age of the characters and the small town feel, without the homophobia. Definetly a low angst, low drama book with healing themes. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Arc Review

Just Jack is a cute story of a man named Jack that is from a small town that has had back luck with relationships. Then Aaron comes to town and is having car troubles and they just hit it off. They have great chemisty. After many months and lots of thinking things start to change. This was a great book and cant wait for the next one.

4 stars
Low angst romance between Aaron, investor from San José, and Jack, gas station owner from Aqua Vista, a little costal town.
I have to admit I struggled during the first part of the story: both characters are lovely, I adored grumpy Jack, even with all his baggage of loss, heartbreak and grief. Instead I couldn't really connect with Aaron and his pushy businessman attitude.
The second part was way better: I liked how they worked through their issues, how they were pulled toward each other and how strongly they wanted to make things work.
Their love declaration was so very romantic and emotional.

The side characters are all great, I hope Frankie and Rocco will fall in love and I'm also very curious about Johnny and his "legally separated" status; I really look forward to read his story.

I received an ARC of this book from The Author Agency and this is my honest review.

I love a small town romance. I really loved that this small town is a fictional enclave on the California coast. I spent 10 years living in Northern California and through my travels have seen similar little towns.

Aaron and Jack are the main characters in the book, but I hazard to say the town of Aqua Vista is a character as well. Artsy, quirky, families that go back generations and residents who are fiercely loyal to their town and keeping it the way it is.

Of course Aaron stumbles on the town when his car needs service and being a real estate developer, can't help but see dollar signs. Jack, who owns the service station, shuts him down quickly.

And while Jack and Aaron play a bit of cat and mouse with each other, Aaron's business partner wants him to tighten the screws and get Jack to sell. But after spending time in the town, and with Jack, Aaron knows it'll never happen.

There's heartache in the town as well. Jack's parents and brother in law were lost at sea and presumed dead a few years ago. They were a huge presence in the town and their loss is felt by many.

I really enjoyed having a story with more mature, grown men as the focus. The older I get, the older I want the leading men to get. They are only in their 30's, if I recall correctly, but there is wisdom in years. With that maturity and wisdom comes no silly fights, no ultimatums, no generated drama for drama's sake.

There were obstacles to overcome, but the author didn't take the easy way out. Instead, well thought out decisions by the characters were made.

And since this is book 1, I cannot wait to revisit Aqua Vista for book 2.
