Another amazing book by Beth Merlin! Loved reading the story from Perry's point of view. So fascinating to read about his creation of his Broadway musical too! Love the attention to detail in the story! Love love love!

So while this is labeled as the 4th book in the series, timeline-wise, it really takes place in between the first and second books in the series. But it was a nice addition. Because the other books are really from Gigi’s point of view. It was good to get Perry’s viewpoint and side of the story. I really did love the whole development of his musical about Queen Elizabeth. Obviously in a way it was modeled in the same way that the whole Hamilton musical was done. And I kind of wish someone would actually do this musical about Elizabeth. The musical Perry was writing in a way reflected his own life and decisions of the time. Perry did a lot of things in this that made me mad though, and totally explained why Gigi had to do what she did. I always hate when characters think if nothing really comes from a situation, they can just not bother telling their significant other about it. When it is so obvious that it could come back to bite them in the end, and would not be such a big deal if they’d just talked about it like a normal person as it happened. But as I said it was nice to be back in this world with these characters and get a look under the curtain of the other side of the story.

Four and a Half Stars
Tell Me S’more by Beth Merlin is the fifth book in her popular The Campfire Series. But can easily be read as a stand-alone book, but you will WANT to read the entire series after reading this one! (I know I did) This book was full of surprises for me and I really enjoyed this fast-paced book. If you’re a fan of Broadway, you’ll love it.

This book is told exclusively in the first person from the POV of Perry and his climb to succeed as a composer in the musical theater world. This book really delves into his world and his thoughts as he clamors to put a show together. Getting inside his head, we can really understand his self-absorption and his single-minded drive to succeed.

I loved the inside look at the musical theater world, both on Broadway and London’s West End. I found the look into the history of Elizabeth I was fascinating and I learned so much about this monarch. I also thought the author did an amazing job of subtly comparing the life of Elizabeth I, and that of Perry and Gigi.

I highly recommend this book to all, but especially if you’re a fan of musical theater. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
