I had the most fun reading this book. It was the perfect balance of serious and enjoyable adult-issues. When Serena had issues with her dad, I totally judged all men from the Punjabi culture. I related it to my own experience with immigrated, old school European men, and I let myself believe it until the later quarter of the book.
I related to this book on many levels. The sad things, the friend struggles, the love for family and their traditions and the need to prioritize yourself over relationships (even if for not the same reasons).
I was so happy this book was recommended to me by a friend. Especially when the whole book, although with its underlying plots of issues, is really about friendship. It’s pure and honest about life long, soul-satisfying friendships; outside of school and work. The end caught me off guard with how quickly it was over. I caught me off guard how much I wished it wasn’t.
