So much suspense for not much payoff. I found myself wishing I had DBFed despite not considering doing so until very late.
The concept was not as strong as the author's previous works. These characters didn't feel as vibrant or nuanced, and the plot wasn't compelling enough to carry me forwards. I read it quickly, but only because I kept waiting for things to click.

this was a really fun mystery book! i had no idea where it was going to end and it made the ride so fun. i don’t think it’s for everyone and parts seemed why out of this world but that’s the point. if you like mystery and sci-fi then i recommend you read this.

It felt like I was solving the mystery with Emory! Stuart Turton has such a unique way of writing mysiteries. Very thought provoking of the nature of humanity. I love the questions for discussion at the end. This is what a scifi book should be!

I enjoyed the characters, the plot, and the setting. The world was interesting and beautiful. But the writing felt like it was more on a YA level rather than an adult level- I tore through this book simply because I wasn't challenged by it. However, it was incredibly fun.
