The mental illness rep was very good in my opinion, but I hated how pretentious the teens were and the best friend Daisy was quite literally the worst.

I felt so seen by John Green’s portrayal of mental illness and OCD, it was probably the best depiction of OCD I’ve ever seen or read and I know I will end up re-reading it again sometime soon!

John Green still breaks my heart in the best ways, the author who made me want to defend YALit in a master's thesis. This book is a beautiful conclusion to his YA era. I had put off reading it for too long but the release of a film adaptation finally motivated me. I do not have OCD, but it has overlap with anxiety and this is such a devastatingly accurate depiction of spiraling, paralyzing episodes. Read with care.

Mental illness, friendship, young love. Green remembers what it was like and it shows in his stories.

It is interesting, after reading his collection of essays and getting to know him through his vlogs, how much of himself I find in books.
