Entering my reviews over from my old Goodreads profile I unearthed recently...here are some super sappy thoughts from 2009-era 14-year-old Claire!

This book is sweet, unobtrusive. Overall, it's a delightful read, although there isn't much to it.

My favorite book of all time. I've read this book a dozen times at different points in my life. Always wonderful and I learn something new.

Where has this book been my whole life? It is a beautiful coming of age story about a girl who faces hardship and love. I’m not sure the time period it is set, but the language is old fashioned. The story felt reminiscent of Anne of Green Gables. I fell in love with the characters. I was sad to say goodbye when it ended.

A really NICE book. Not sure how Mom and I missed this one when we were trying to read all of the Newberry Medsl winners.

A lot of this book comes off as super yikes now. I was surprised it was published in the 60s and not earlier

I like these slow-paced coming of age stories. They have a contemplative feel, three dimensional characters, and deep character relationships. This one is kind of in the same neighborhood as Anne of Green Gables, starring a headstrong teenage girl living with a strict no-nonsense aunt.
