Connor & Wes & Autumn. Book 1 of 2. Told from dual POV (Wes & Autumn). Ends with cliffhanger.
The Before.....
Right off the bat I have to say I’m not a fan of triangles, so this took me a little out of my comfort zone. However, this book is very much worth the read.
The story had me hooked from the first chapter and the story of Sock Boy just broke my heart. Wes was devastated as a child and chose writing as an outlet. But then he realized that his outlet actually revealed a piece of his soul to others and the walls went up and a hard, cynical man emerged. His running just further solidified that as hard as you try, you just can’t outrun the hurt.
At the age of 12, Wes meets Connor when he defends Wes and stands up to some bullies. An instant connection and friendship is formed and that tie creates a foundation that lasts a lifetime. Connor is an easy going guy that’s generous, kind, loves to laugh and have fun and is loved by everyone. His family has lots of money and as we get to know them better we begin to see there is also some deep hurt that resides within Connor. In his parents eyes, he is always a disappointment and all Connor wants is their acceptance and is tired of never being enough. This leads to some insecurity in Connor, but he hides it well. Through the years, these two always offer unconditional support and an unbreakable bond forms.
In college, Connor and Wes meet Autumn. Each have a different first experience with her, but both are instantly attracted to her. Autumn is a simple midwestern farm girl who is sweet and wants electricity with her romance. She is recently single due to a cheating boyfriend and is a bit gun shy about jumping into another relationship.
This book involves a huge lie that is not revealed to Autumn in book 1. However, as irritated as I got at the guys, I still couldn’t help but love them. All three of these characters need each other for so many reasons and the depth of their love for each other leaps off the pages. The author did a fantastic job of making you understand the heart of each character and you are able to empathize with them. The cliffhanger is very emotional and you will definitely want to have both books before starting Book 1.
Quotes:
“His children were left behind, like a sock in a drawer that was almost empty, and that was a million times worse than if there was nothing left at all.”
“I still wanted to write, but making a habit out of bleeding my heart out and having it thrown back in my face was not going to happen. Not ever again.”
“Feelings, I said, are like tonsils. Mostly useless, and occasionally a source of pain and discomfort,”
“We accept the love we think we deserve.”
“I would bring down the stars for her.”

“I would bring down the stars for her.”
Bring Down The Stars is a book that will become a must read, my emotions are a mess, I couldn’t write the review right away, I needed time for everything to sink in, still waiting for everything to get organized but I needed to write the review. I would give this book more stars if I could. Connor Drake and Weston Turner are kids from the opposite side of life. Friendship is the beginning then love becomes in between when they meet Autumn Caldwell. My heart went into a turmoil of emotions, I definitely need the next book.

I feel like someone ripped out every internal organ and jumped up and down on them continuously while all I could do was watch with a shrug.
Read. This. Duet. Immediately.
Oh this book. I don’t even know what to say; where to begin. My heart is in my throat. It was there throughout most of the book. I was hooked within the first few words and these characters took me on quite a journey. I disliked some of them at times and then loved them again and back and forth in that way. Emma is weaving an amazing tale and I am on the edge of my seat in anticipation of book two. I don’t want to give anything away except that this book will hurt and heal and hurt you, but it’s worth every heartache, every smile, every tear. There are no words to adequately describe the way I feel about it. Just read it. It’s incredible.

3.5-4 stars (Unpopular Opinion Alert)
I was hesitant to read Bring Down the Stars because I knew it was a modern day re-telling of Cyrano de Bergerac. Nothing good can come from a relationship built on a foundation of lies. And yet I willingly waded into what I was confident would be turbulent waters, praying that the characters would be worth the risk to my heart. Weston and the beautiful poetry of his thoughts and words are shining stars in this story and the main reason for nudging the book toward 4-star territory.
Weston hooked me with his elaborate defenses that were justifiably formed as a young child. If I were to choose an adjective to describe him it would be self-sacrificing. Despite Weston’s negative reputation, his heart is huge and he is willing to deny his passion for poetry in favor of a more practical career that will help support his family. Time and again, he smothers his desires in order to make his best friend or other people happy.
The other characters mean well, but I swear I wanted to slap each and every one of them. Autumn spends hours swooning over “Connor’s” moving texts and letters and then wondering why things are awkward when they are together. I grew irritated with her constant whining about electricity, romance, and deep conversations. Should she expect those things in a boyfriend? Sure. Do I need to read about it over and over and over? No.
Connor is an innately happy and generous guy; however, he is also a spoiled little rich boy. He has never wanted for anything, so having to work for Autumn’s affection is a foreign concept—one he puts very little effort into achieving. Fortunately for him, Weston is an excellent wingman. Connor isn’t a bad guy at all. He’s just frustratingly clueless and undeserving of Autumn. I did feel the weight of his parents’ expectations pressing down on him, and for that he earned my empathy.
I can’t even count the number of bad decisions made in this book. I understand the reasoning behind the characters’ actions. I just think they are shortsighted. Here’s to a better conclusion to the duet.

Ugh so many feels. I had no clue what this book was about. If Emma freaking Scott wrote it, then I’m reading it. I like to go into her stories blind because she makes me feel...things. Blech! I almost had some liquid coming out of my eye holes. Stupid feelings. Cheese and rice this book. I started it in the wee hours of the morning because I couldn’t sleep. Big mistake! I pulled an all nighter and I’m so glad I waited for the second book cause I’m diving right in. Adulting? Uh, who cares right now. Pants? Hell no, I’ve got a second book finish, Linda! Byeeee. I’m going in.
