A wonderful exploration not only into the world of cinema, but the world of taking a beloved story and turning it into a even more beloved piece of film. All my respect and love to Annie Proulx, Diana Ossana, and Larry McMurtry.

This is as much a great idea as it is a great book containing as it does the original short story (which in a mere 30 pages is a truely heartbreaking story of love and loss), the screenplay and three monographs on the experience of writing the story, the screenplay and on the making of the film. As such it is a great insight into the film world.

[...] rewarm that old, cold time on the mountain when they owned the world and nothing seemed wrong.

Go ahead, Annie Proulx, punch me in the face.
I had never heard of [b:Brokeback Mountain|1627|Brokeback Mountain|Annie Proulx|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1442919969l/1627._SY75_.jpg|1795113] before today, so you can guess how unprepared I was for this heartbreaking piece of literature. I don't know how to rate or review this, it was just great. So freaking great.
