WHERES THE TROPHY HE JUST COMES RUNNING OVER TO ME! I kept singing this all while reading (even though IT WAS ANGSTY AS FUCK) ᡣ𐭩 ᡣ𐭩 ᡣ𐭩 ᡣ𐭩

it’s 5am, and I’m writing this bleary eyed but I cannot wait to write this review. I simply can’t.

Anston is a football player in Atlanta who cares for everyone in his family and well—is basically the epitome of a good guy. Enter Weston, a senator from California whos cheeky, funny and sasssy—that he meets at a bar one night and basically changes his life. Anston has a hard time from then on hiding his true feelings towards men—AND MOST OF ALL, towards West.

You know how it goes. Their lives couldn’t be more different, miles apart. Yet— their story is so so so beautiful.

I FELL IN LOVE. They had me at the edge of my bed-did I say it’s 5am? I started this book and I could NOT stop reading. They were everything to me and they were so soft, I laughed so much and it was so beautiful that while laughing I had tears in my eyes.

Even when I got sad and frustrated, their situation just sucked. It didn’t have anything to do with them exactly and it made it all hurt so good. Still. They made it work. They fought and god god god their conversations their love the patience the comfort GOD!

They’re everything to me. ᡣ𐭩 ᡣ𐭩 ᡣ𐭩

Writing style was meh

Riley Hart does not disappoint. I fell in love with her writing and storytelling in the Fever Fall series, and this book reminded me why. It also made me fall a little deeper, a little further.

The amount of depth, not only to the storyline, but also within the characters, blew me away. I was mesmerized from beginning to end. West and Anson stole my heart. I say that a lot, but it’s true! I was glad this was a slow burn as I felt it stayed more true to who these men were, and who they were becoming, together.

This book is one I highly recommend. I cannot wait for it to come out as an audiobook. I am going to snatch it up, pronto! ASAP!

This was super cute. There is angst, don't get me wrong, but I just wanted to hug the MCs and wish the best for them.

Anson meets Weston in a bar and despite his attempts to hide, Weston seems to see through the secret he’s done everything to hide and it terrifies him. He runs off like Cinderella, leaving his sunglasses behind. Weston, after discovering he’s THAT Anson, reaches out to return the sunglasses and to be a friend to someone he sees is struggling. The friendship becomes the one thing Anson needs to truly be himself.

Reasons I Recommend:

1) Riley Hart is an incredible writer. The pure emotion and the crap she puts these characters through

2) Anson’s literal physical fear from nausea, sweating, anxiety… it’s taking a toll on his life and

3) The satisfaction of Weston taking Anson to North Carolina was chef’s kiss, despite the heartbreak that some people can’t love their children unconditionally.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

PS — the bonus short (second photo) was amazing and I’m disappointed i can’t add it in goodreads!

Quote 1: “Come here, man,” Darren stood, I did too, and he pulled me into a tight hug. “ I mean it. This is your life, and you deserve to live it out loud. I’m sorry if I ever contributed to your fear of being true to who you are.”

Quote 2: I’m a better man because of you. I’m stronger and love who I am because of you. I’ve spent my whole damn life in the closet, hiding who I was, hating who I was.”

Quote 3: “West...” I opened the box.
“Yes.”
“I didn’t get to ask you anything yet.”
“Still yes.”
“But I practiced a whole speech. It’s really good!”

Quote 5: “I hope you realize how lucky you are that I walked into the hotel bar that night.”
“Wait…shouldn’t that be the other way around? You’re lucky I was there?”
“Do you know me?” I teased.
