This is a cute coming out story.
Anson, a pro football player, has always known he gay but has been pretending he's not for all of his 26 years.
Weston has been out and proud since he was a teenager. He's 36 and a Senator from California.
Weston comes onto Anson one night in a hotel bar, and Anson freaks out. A few weeks later, Weston goes to one of Anson's football games and refuses Anson is the man from the bar. Weston makes contact with Anson, and they hit it off, but Anson is still in the closet.
Will Weston get back in the closet with Anson? If Anson comes out, will it destroy his football career?
This is a great low angst book that I enjoyed very much. It's a bit spicy.
2/5 on the spicy scale

A solid cute sports romance. Felt a little too long & got a bit repetitive but overall a sweet story. Bashful
THIS BOOK CHEWEDDDDDDD
Yall know me when it comes to anything long distance or to do with online dating/texting buddies I go feral for it and this DELIVERED.
A US Senator and a football player who was in the closet? Please the way these two were obsessed with each other made my heart go budumpdumpdump I loved it so much. There were so many impactful and meaningful conversations about coming out and surrounding the queer community that I found really important here.
The loyalty, understanding, support and love shared between West & Anson PLEASEE. I love them bad

Such a enjoyable read. One things I didn't like was how Weston went about confronting his parents at the end/it didn't feel natural. It felt pushed.

This book was almost perfect. I loved Anson and West. Their story was unique and beautiful. I loved how they met, their friendship, their phone calls, the slow burn, their first day together different from expected, the few moments they had together, the family parts , their friends,... Everything. I had such a good time reading their story.
I loved that Anson knew he was gay for ages but West was his first experience ever.
I loved how West was just willing to have fun but Anson changed him. I loved that they told their feelings to each other and communicated well most of the time.... I loved them both. I loved that there was no useless drama at any point in the book, which is not common but was highly appreciated. The side characters were all really nice and sweet, especially Elias, Anson's brother.
I was thinking about Anson and West and smiling all the time while I was not reading the book, which is a good sign for me to know how good it was.
Is Anson really a not common name in the US? One of my favorite singers is Anson Seabra, so I was surprised to hear that Anson is not common.
- 0.5 for the book's cover, God I can't stand naked men on covers and because I wish I felt more butterflies while reading it. But I will definitely buy the paperback version to have it on my favorite MM romances' bookshelf.

I loved and hated this book. I loved that Anson comes into himself but I also hated that he had to. I hated that life is a series of having to "come out" who cares!! Why does it care who someone likes/loves/or sleeps with? Why?!?! All that time wasted being scare to be who you are. I hate that for anyone.
I loved Weston for everything he is. He is an out and proud gay man who lost a lot because he is exactly who he is. Again its that love hate. I love that he can be himself and hate that he lost family because of it.
A scene in this book is going to play a role in my head for a long time I know it.
Anson was having a drink and Weston sits and starts a convo, then Weston gets a little forward and said hey if your not feeling it its all good. But the sheer horror on Anson's face when he thought he did something to make it known he was interested and then Weston being the amazing guy he is gave him all the reassurance that he wasn't going to out him ever. My heart melted because Weston got in. No one should be outted without their say so. It melted my heart.
There was more angst in this book and that's ok it was more character angst vs storyline angst and that made a big difference. The ending made it worth it.
I loved the narration. I will jump in to book 2 soon.
