The book is broken up into 3 parts and honestly part 1 I was super skeptical because it was so predictable, however, part 2 was absolutely shocking and made me realize how intentional the obviousness of it was. The plot twist for part 2 was fantastic and learning Millie’s backstory was great. I absolutely LOVED the ending and am looking forward to reading book 2. I didn’t find many quotes I liked so the definitely lowered the rating for me but that is a personal preference in terms of what I look for and how I go about rating. I wish there was more on Andrew’s backstory but I loved understanding Cecelia by the end. Very curious to learn more about Enzo and continue his storyline.

Oh, to list all the things that I disliked about this book that strangely has such a high rating and has been hyped up on Booktube??

- Both Nina and Andy were cartoonishly evil. This made sense once we found out Nina was just playing at her cruelty, but I hated that Andy had zero complexity and somehow was entirely uninteresting.
- Millie was bland! She was the main character for most of the book, and I truly had no interest in her. The only emotions she elicited from me were shock at how dumb she was to hook up with Nina’s husband. And “be in love with him” based on next to nothing??!!
- The mental health stigma around Nina during the whole first part of the book was disappointing. Someone can just be a bitch and it doesn’t have to do with their mental illness!
- This simply wasn’t a thriller. I was not thrilled! The “twists” were so predictable. I don’t even know what this would be considered…maybe a suburban suspense novel?
- This felt like a sister book to “Verity” (which I think was written first?). Except it somehow managed to be far less successful at actually creating tension and thrills.
- The ending…..at least I was happy Nina and Cece were free and living their best lives, but is Millie just gonna be a for-hire husband killer now? This whole book is very much giving white woman feminism.

I will give it this: Parts two and three were more interesting than part one, and it was an easy read. Really the only things I found redeemable tho.
