A Lady’s Past (Everton Domestic Society #4)
This was a great book and had it all; mystery, romance, abduction, dungeons, explosions, and humor. Diana and her parents were abducted and taken to a prison in France and kept there for 3 years. The French tried to force her father to improve their rockets so they could use them in the war against England. Diana was finally able to escape but has been on the run because the French want her to finish her father’s work. Jacques Laurent found Diana along the road to London and couldn’t leave her there alone. He takes her to the Everton house where he knows the women will take care of Diana. When he finds her with his friend who is a chemist, he becomes more curious about her. Will Jacques be able to keep her safe and can Diana trust him with her secrets?

This wasn’t a bad read. I just don’t think I was in the proper mood to enjoy it to the fullest. After reading a historical, I always ask myself why don’t I read them more often. I really do usually enjoy them.

I voluntarily read an early copy.

This was a great book, lots of action, and yeah, really enjoyed reading it! Though what was the situation with his former fiancee?

A Lady's Past is one of the books in the Everton Domestic Society series. It's my first book by the author, and I have to say I rather enjoyed it. I'm relatively new to reading historical romances (I never really thought they were my cup of tea until earlier this year), and I have to say I was filled with what I like to call "hopeless romantic" feelings while reading this book.
The story follows Diana, a woman with a secretive past, who is aided by a Frenchman named Jacques who has escaped his own personal hell. What happens when her past and his collide?
This is a well-written story with likable characters. I was rather fond of Honoria, and it was nice to see so many of the other characters ready and willing to take Diana under their wing and help her rather than shun her.
The plot kept me on my toes, curious to see if Jacques and Diana would find love, or if their pasts would tear them apart. And that one event closer to the end... It was definitely intense and a bit crazy.
I'm definitely intrigued by the Everton Domestic Society ladies, and I just might have to give the other books a go.
If you're a fan of historical romances, definitely check out A Lady's Past.
4 stars from me!
