This is perhaps the worst book I've read by Michael Lewis. That being said, it's not terrible, just not on the same level as his other stuff. Somewhat of shallower dive than his normal fare.

I have a frustration with this book in that I wish it had been written in a way that might make it more appealing to individuals across the political spectrum. While the Trump administration's fumbled handling -- or even disinterest -- in the transition in the days, weeks and months after the 2016 election is a worthy and important topic, the real stars of this book are the government employees doing often thankless work behind the scenes to protect Americans from all sorts of risks. I don't know that a book focused on these workers would make the NY Times list, but there is a desperate need for our country to really understand what government workers do within a framework of public service rather than the caricatures that they so often become in what passes for political discourse.

Very interesting first chapter ... after that the topic became less interesting and even felt repetitive through the rest of the book

explained in a way that i understood, this book really showed me the extent to how fucked up and insanely stupid trump's adminstration was, as well as illuminating the importance of government departments like commerce and energy, as well as the vulnerabilities of things like national weather service to private companies (which is something i never knew was a thing)
overall, this book was well written, incredibly informative, and a lovely (as well as important) book

My first Michael Lewis book! Short, interesting enough, wish we could now hear more about what actually happened in the institutions once the Trump admin took over more, though. Didn't love it, didn't hate it, easy 3/5.
