dark mysterious medium-paced

As a doctor, the medical mystery was non-existent for me. When the Dr Carr narrates the story, I was genuinely intrigued but by the first third of the story, I was certain what had happened. The other big twist in the story was also guessable.

Despite the above two things, I did like that one scene with tension involving our H while one entire sequence was downright spooky.

I still would've given this 4 stars but I have a couple of issues/thoughts about this story.

- Despite the thing with Trig (the solicitor), I still feel that the entire sequence of events wouldn't have happened had Lord Peter not intervened. And I am not sure how I feel about it.

- I wish we had a POV from the killer at the end.

Still, I think it brave of the author to write a story like this and Lord Peter and Inspector Parker are hilarious together as always.
funny lighthearted mysterious medium-paced

One of the slower paced of Wimsey books, this has a lot of characters and some charm, but isn't the finest. Could have been edited down even further, as the longer it went, the more the readers guesses the killer.

I read all of these a long time ago.

An elderly woman with cancer dies, and her grand-niece inherits her estate. Natural enough...except that it might not be. The doctor who attended the lady herself asks Lord Peter to investigate, with some rather surprising consequences. Note: Because of the racism and homophobia in this one, it's perhaps not for the sensitive reader.
