This book is exactly why I love books so much. Patric’s memoir has opened my mind and heart to a new way of understanding and seeing others who are different than me. I feel in awe of this author; her incredible self awareness even at a young age, her intelligence and bravery and mostly for her passion to use her story to bring hope and healing for others who can relate to her life. I am grateful to have read this; to understand sociopathy much better, to have more compassion for those with this diagnosis and more broadly to better appreciate that differences are okay-not better or worse, just different. Also..it happens to be a book I didn’t want to put down-so entertaining and enjoyable to read!

you know a memoir is good when you can see yourself in the writer. spoiler: i’m not a sociopath but can relate to the disconnect between feeling and expression

This is an incredibly fascinating story narrated by Patrik. I think she does a phenomenal job sharing the insights and truth of her experience living as a sociopath. She also elaborates on the importance of media skewing mental illness in the limelight of crime and how this is not the truth when so many individuals go untreated or misdiagnosed

Worth the read!

I'm not a sociopath so I can't speak to accuracy, but I appreciated the author sharing her experience. I think she raises important points about not making assumptions that sociopaths (or anyone with a different mind) is automatically evil. For a book about sociopathy and apathy it's fascinating that this inspired a lot of empathy reading it.
