This book was interesting. I just didn’t connect with the book and I didn’t feel the feelings I think this book wanted me to feel. No tears were shed. There’s some twists at the end I didn’t see coming and some that I did. Told from dual timelines of the past and present.

What a tangled mess a life can be. Beth's actions at seventeen reverberate through her thirties. There are many layers in this story, all revealed slowly. And there is a big twist at the end, not expected but maybe should have been?

Overall, a good read. But, I found the author to be obviously manipulative. A good writer is more subtle. Of course authors will manipulate their readers. But this got annoying. The ending twist was a surprise because she blurred the timeline. The cause of Bobby's death soon became a tedious teaser. The book could have been better if these and other bits were crafted into the flow of the narrative better.

I just finished this and I don't have the words right now to express just how much I loved this book, just know that I will be thinking about it for a long time to come.
