Ugh I wanted to like this book, since the topic is important and relevant - but the main character was insufferable and the whole story was cliché and predictable. Also I felt like the book was a "woke" rant most of the time, didn't find this enjoyable. Maybe it depicts teenagers well of how black-and-white their world-view can be, I don't know.

“They don’t realize that seeing yourself in a book can sometimes save you.”

I really loved this book. There were so many incredible quotes that I highlighted throughout the book. Noor was such a strong main character. I find myself thinking about this book constantly since reading it. This is such a powerful read!

Noor's father suddenly leaves and abandon's her family. Depression set in. To try to move on with their lives, Door's mother moves the family from Chicago to a small rural town by Champaign, IL. Poor has one semester left of high school. Head down, just graduate - is her mantra. Until 500 books are pulled from the library shelves. Noor speaks out!

A lot of slang terms with no glossary. I found Noor's character - impulsively angry - a little too annoying. A little too cliche for me - good boy, bad boy love triangle a not really believable for this character. Overall, an important message, which makes it worth reading.
