So, I wanted to give Amanda Lovelace another try after reading The Princess Saves Herself in This one and The Witch Doesn't Burn in This One years ago and I'm glad I did. I liked Shine Your Icy Crown. It's obvious that Amanda improved a lot. Her poems her are beautiful and empowering. I related to many of the poems and loved the small drawings throughout the book which were done by Janaina Medeiros.
Looking forward to new poetry collections by Amanda and to continues improvement and growth,

“do not plan your life
so meticulously that
you leave no space
for starlight to leak in.

- miracles happen only if you let them.”

What Amanda does, she does well ✨

This book follows the same kind of format as her previous poetry books, with themes of feminism, growth, self-acceptance, and valuing your own worth. If you've read any of her previous work, you know what you're in for here. It's a beautiful book, with artwork that's so lovely and really adds to the experience of reading her words.

I blasted through this in a sitting and connected with some of the poems, though I am finding her books quite repetitive. I liked the big sister/little sister parts of this one, like the fairy godmother parts of the first book in the series. I just think I might be saturated with poetry like this, so I don't *feel* it in the same way that I used to.

Still, a good, quick read. And great for book pics for the ol' blog.

Thank you Netgalley.

This collection of poetry by Amanda Lovelace is incredibly relatable and uplifting. Absolutely love it!!

This was good. I like this series a lot. It feels more cohesive than the princess saves herself in this one and its sequels. On audio some of it felt repetitive structurally (a lot of big sister says here vs fairy godmother says in the first book) but it all works so well that I'm okay with it.
