I have read all of Amanda Lovelace’s poetry collections and I always enjoy them. “Shine your icy crown” is no exception! This one is centered around the theme of sisterhood, with sisterly advice sprinkled throughout the collection. I love how Lovelace’s collections are never just random poems thrown in - they have a theme and an overall story that ties everything together. Her latest release focuses on the bonds between women, so even if you don’t have a sister you will relate to some aspect of this book. This isn’t my favorite of the collections (I didn’t have a ton of favorites like how I did with “the witch doesn’t burn in this one”) but I still thoroughly enjoyed this set of modern poetry.

It's no secret for the people around me that I read everything Lovelace writes and this one is no exception. She always makes a very clear statement in her books and this one is, again, no exception. I still love how she weaves and spins her words around the thing she wants to say in a way that really comes across and I think the message 'love yourself in the first place and give yourself space to heal' is still a necessary one, but the feels from my side weren't there like other times I have read her work.

Amanda Lovelace has done it again. Not only is her poetry beautiful but it hits hard has meaning. I could relate to so many of the poems in this book and the journey that she went on. There were also a lot of messages for me to take away which I loved.

I absolutely love all of Amanda Lovelace’s poetry books and this one is no exception. Amanda has a way with words that really makes you question what you know and believe about feminism. It also makes you think deeper and critically about feminism.
One of my favorite authors of all time! Always exceeds my expectations!

Another Amanda Lovelace collection that has absolutely blown me away. With every word that she writes sits deep within me and moves me in ways I never thought I could be moved. These poems both broke my heart and reminded me how beautiful things around me really are.
This collection sat with me for hours after I finished them because they absolutely broke my heart. Obviously Amanda uses her magic to put my heart back together but she does such a beautiful job making me think about everything before the book is done.
Everything she writes impacts me, but the poems in this collection specifically were everything I needed and more. Absolutely amazing.
