This book left me feeling so empowered! I resonate with each page from beginning to end! I feel so much truth reading her books. Great one again Amanda!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Another beautiful and empowering poetry collection by Amanda Lovelace, who I consider to be a powerful voice for women and girls everywhere.

I first picked up her debut collection, The Princess Saves Herself in this One, on a whim. I wanted to try poetry again (I was never a huge fan) and the title, cover, and poetry style instantly captured me. I’ve gotten every one of her collections since and they get better and better.

This collection is all about owning your identity as a woman; and not settling for what society tells you how you should be, dress, act, or do. It’s about finding your voice and showing the world that you are unapologetically you. It is uplifting.

I highly recommend these poems for women everywhere. Amanda Lovelace is so raw in her thoughts and truly understands trauma, mental illness, and sexism. She is badass, and the sweetest human (I met her at BookCon in 2020 and basically cried).

Was it bad? No. Did I like it? I did not not like it. Would it have had a bigger impact if I had read it when I was 16-17? Sure, I think that may be its demographic. I need poetry to shake me to my very core. This did not do that.

Reread 2022 (Audiobook): ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers, Andrews McMeel Publishing, for an ARC unabridged audiobook of Shine Your Icy Crown by Amanda Lovelace in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

As you can see, I have read this book once before as an e ARC and absolutely loved it! So it is no surprise that I was eager to give the 2022 audiobook release a go, and I was not disappointed! Amanda Lovelace narrates the audiobook which immediately had me excited, as I love when authors narrate their own books. It adds another dimension to the work and, with Amanda's narration, you could really hear her love and passion for the poetry coming through. The music accompaniment os gorgeous and magical, not to mention a wonderful way to enhance the reading experience. Overall an absolutely wonderful listen and 5 stars for both the poetry and the unabridged audiobook version.

While I didn't enjoy [b:Shine your Icy Crown|54335207|Shine your Icy Crown (You Are Your Own Fairy Tale, #2)|Amanda Lovelace|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1601825190l/54335207._SX50_.jpg|84789994] as much as I did book 1, it was still an empowering and beautiful collection of poetry. [a:Amanda Lovelace|15225448|Amanda Lovelace|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1533076817p2/15225448.jpg] is, in my opinion, an unbelievably talented poet, and I could not put this book down until I had reached the end. Even then, I wished there was more. Combined with the gorgeous illustrations and layout of the book itself, this was an inspiring read! I cannot wait to buy my own copy of this once it is released.

*recieved a copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review*

I was so lucky to receive a copy from Netgalley because this is one of the books I have been looking forward to since it was announced. This book continues the new poetry series that Amanda Lovelace has started, the first book being Break Your Glass Slippers and I really enjoy the poetry that Amanda writes. I also love the illustrations that go along with some of the poems which I find to be a really nice added touch to the story. If you are a fan of poetry I definitely would recommend giving this a go. If you already love Amanda's work I think that you would probably also enjoy this one at least as much.

Thank you to NetGalley for sending me a free ARC of Shine your Icy Crown in exchange for an honest review!

"women can't rule/they're far too emotional/but isn't it about time/someone actually cared?"

The works of Amanda Lovelace are a national treasure. Lovelace says everything a woman in America wants to say but can't find the words to express. Through elegant and eloquent poetry, the classic dream of being the hero or heroine of our own fairy tales is accomplished. I highly recommend all of Lovelace's works for any reader who loves fairy tales and feminism.
